Our "real" work
We are John and Bonnie Nystrom. We are full-time missionaries working with a local Bible translation project in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Our ministry website is here, where you can see a short film about our work.

​Since we are in the US to care for aging parents, John does his Bible translation work in Florida in the winter, where we care for Bonnie's mom and her brothers, and from Nystrom's Resort in the summer. He typically returns to Papua New Guinea for a month or so every year.
We invest to multiply
Bonnie and I believe in investing our time, our resources and our lives in people and the Word of God because, other than God himself, those are the only two things that last forever. In our Bible translation work, we invest our time in things that have a broad impact. That is why we are doing Bible translation in multiple languages, investing in people who will continue in the Bible translation movement and pass on what we teach them to others.

Investing in tired pastors and worn-out missionaries and their families makes sense for the same reason: the impact is multiplied through the many people their lives will touch.

We believe God has blessed us so that we can be a blessing to others (Psalm 67.1-2), whether we're helping to translate the Bible or helping people with "beautiful feet" to put them up and rest a while.
Our Role
Some ministries to pastors and missionaries provide both a "place" and a "face." They provide both a place to stay and somebody to talk to and debrief with. Oasis Rest is an example.
Bonnie and I have other jobs, so we are not available to provide that level of attention. We do offer a great place to stay, an occasional listening ear, and usually at least one meal together in our cabin during your stay.

Our Family
We have two adult children and five grandchildren. All of them enjoy the resort with us at least once a year.
